Just a great post. It’s not just a card, it’s the culmination of years of blogging that allow you to do this so deftly.

Exactly. If some guy can paint a can of campbells soup and call it art, I can put up a picture and call it blogging 🙂

That’s me that is. Quick and agile and suitably escaped!

( I might have been fibbing about the quick and agile bit 😀 )

I can see this card running amok against a green deck, from what Ive experienced they do not have a lot of cards under the two power range…

Yeah, green used to be the domain of monstrously huge creatures 🙂

So what do the two symbols in the top corner mean? Is there any way to know the rarity of a card (value-wise) by something indicated on the card?

The symbols in the upper right tell you how much it costs to cast that spell. Amrou Kithkin would cost you tapping 2 plains to get onto the board.
Older cards like this had no visual indication. Thankfully, wizards did start adding visual cues in the early 2000’s (different rarities had different colored frames or something) and eventually they started adding that info right along with the artists name. So there would be a C, U, R or M for common, uncommon, rare and mythic.
