The Bookstooges on Vacation, Part Ace

Vacation has been great so far. The flights down to Georgia went as smooth as could be. Saturday we went to the Hiram SDA church for Sabbath and then my sister and her partner came over for the afternoon/evening and we visited for some time. Sunday we went over to their house and hung out by the pool all afternoon. After a late dinner we rolled home and rolled into bed.

My sister and her partner both have rescue dogs. The little guy’s name is Benjamin and he’s about the size of both my fists. He’s a tiny little guy and I just wanted to pick him up and throw him in the pool like a football. Thankfully, I resisted temptation. Buggy, on the other hand, is a pit and not a tiny little guy. He’s as friendly as a pooch and would practically beg you to throw his rubber bone into the pool so he could go chasing after it. Of course, then he’d come back and shake himself right next to you, so you had to decide if it was worth it 😀

Monday we went to the Atlanta Aquarium. We all met at 9am and caravaned into the metropolis. We got inside a bit after 10am. I was done by 11:15am. After that I sat on a bench and let others do their thing. We got home a bit after 2pm. I took a nap because I was tired out from being around so many people. And that was WITH the aquarium having a strict covid protocols for how many people could be inside at once. I don’t think I could have done it otherwise. Here’s a gallery of a pix:

And now, it is 5pm Monday afternoon. I am sitting on a wonderful couch, drinking a Rockstar, looking at blue sunny skies out the window. Tomorrow is going to be a Do Nothing kind of day. So far, this vacation has met, and exceeded, every possible expectation I’ve had. I don’t want to brag, but I think we’re the King and Queen of Vacation right now.

ps,
this block editor? still not liking it.

It’s great you’re having fun! And I want more photos of turtles, they are great and wise creatures, that’s why I adopted one (well, to be precise mine is a tortoise, a sort that walks on land).

I’m glad you’re having a great time! LOL about throwing the poor little dog like a football. 🙂 I’ve been to that aquarium I think 3 times now, but I think I enjoy it more than you since I usually last more than an hour. 😉 The penguins are my favorite part. I also like the dolphin shows when they have them.

  5. Ah, I am so glad you are getting away from work stress and trading it for there-are-too-many-people-at-this-aquarium stress. Though, why you would go to Georgia in the middle of the summer is beyond me. I guess it’s the call of family and small dogs.

That gator picture is the best.

The Neanderthal family took a 30-hr vacation yesterday: one night of camping, one day of river tubing. Mr. Neanderthal drives long-haul, so we plan our getaways around his schedule. I love these personal posts, but I seldom do them because my kids are so photogenic I’d be tempted to post pictures of them, and I need to protect their privacy.

    Great, enjoyable post!

Actually, the middle of summer was deliberately planned. I wanted to see just how bad the heat and humidity could be. It hasn’t been as bad as I’d feared. But we have several days to go 😀

Whenever I do these personal type of posts, especially with photos, I tend to go back in a week and delete the ones of people. The cleverly disguised one of Mrs B and I (no rogue agent is going to steal our eyeballs and use our retinas!) will disappear in about a week or so. Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about kids. I suspect if children were involved, I’d simply not talk about family life at all because I agree with you fully, privacy is important.

      Thank you! 😀

Knowing your sister and her partner, I really wouldn’t suggest throwing their dog 🙂

    Enjoy your vacation!

  9. You went to the Atlanta Aquarium? I want to go there so badly to see their whale sharks! Did you see them?

Yes, we saw the whale sharks. Weren’t able to get any good pictures though as they kept moving at pretty fast clip. There was also a baby beluga whale, but they had “no flash” signs all over and neither of us knew how to turn off the flash on our phone cameras.

YAY vacation! 😀 Looks like you’re having fun! I was in Baltimore Aquarium some years back and loved it too – though you’re right, one can get tired after a few hours. The dogs are cute, and the pool looks very inviting! 😀

  14. I am SO jealous of your visit to the Georgia Aquarium! I’ve never been and really want to go. (It would be best if I could just have the entire place to myself thank you very much.)
    Those pups are super cute!

Both of the dogs are very personable. Thankfully, Buggy has had enough training from my sister so he’s not out of control, even though he’s young. That makes all the difference in my opinion.

And benjamin is just so little, hahahahahaha….

  15. Throw the little thing into the pool?! Hahahah you don’t want to obtain the title of Dawg Killer on top of Bookstooge now! 😀

I’m impressed by the amount of socializing that you managed to sneak into your vacation AND still enjoy it all though! Glad to hear how good it has been so far. Here’s to more days like this (when does it come to an end? :o)

dogs can swim, instinctively. I’m more likely to drown than Benjamin 😀

We’re trying to see the people that we “have to”, as visiting Georgia is a big thing and not something we’re going to do every other year.

      We’re flying back sunday…

  16. I am living vicariously through you! I haven’t been on a holiday in over a year and am craving it so much. I’m even craving a plane ride haha

Actually, just getting out of my town for something other than work would be neat, but nope, we’re locked down again.

Rescue dogs are sooo affectionate! My Wilma definitely needs more attention and cuddles than my Walter dog whom we had as a pup. He is spoiled lol

Our zoo has a very small aquarium we now have to make people stand in line to go into it. People being people dont want that kinda thing even though its for everyones safety… i can totally relate to you being done so early.
