My New Theme Pix for Book Catch Posts
The Burning White by Brent Weeks, the Fifth and Final book in the Light Bringer series.
Every light casts a shadow
Every shadow hides a secret
Every secret holds a truth
Every truth bears a legend
Every legend shines a light
Now is that cool inscription or what? Each “Every” is from one of the books and it is neat to see them all together in this final book.
I pre-ordered the hardcover and I own the kindle version as well for ease of reading. The “official” page count for both is around the 994 page mark. However, when I use the “Page Count” plugin in my Calibre library (which I have found to be more accurate), the kindle version is about 1130. Either way, this is the book I plan on taking up a big chunk of December.
I read the first book, The Black Prism, back in September of 2010 when it came out, so I feel like I deserve this book 😉 I hope my expectations aren’t too high.
Love the pic!
And yes, you definitely deserve this book, all 994 to 1130 pages of it! I sincerely hope it lives up to your expectations as I prepare to read Black Prism 😉

I am trying to keep my expectations in check, but as this is the culmination, I’m finding it very hard to do that.

But after the epic struggle of getting it? I don’t know, I think the champ deserves his trophy 😀

I hope you enjoy it and that it’s a satisfying conclusion!
I’ve been keeping an eye on this series for a few years to read when it’s finished. With my reduced reading pace I don’t know if I’ll get to it in 2020, but probably either 2020 or 2021.

I’m re-calculating my tbr too and I’m wondering about deleting some stuff “just because”…

All of the books in this series have had awesome covers. One of the main reasons I’ve been buying them in hardcover 🙂

Wow, that’s a long book! I have an ebook copy of the first one, but I haven’t read it yet. I guess I’ll just be prepared for a lot of reading when I get to it!

They are all big books, so settle down for the long haul 🙂

Yay grats! I hope you’ll enjoy it. I bailed after book three or so, because the series just kept growing and growing and there was never any concrete news regarding the release schedule. I thought the books were okay but I wasn’t head over heels for them or anything, so I figured at the time I’d put the series on hold. I will probably go and reread them all at some point.

Yeah, I don’t know if I’d be so into this series if it started today. But Weeks is one of the handful of authors that I don’t mind waiting on. Of course, I’ll probably wait to start whatever he writes next until it is nearly complete 😀

Oh wow, that’s a brick!! Must be super exciting to have the last part in your hands after such a long time 😁 I hope it can deliver!
…i just got out of my 3 week reading slump yesterday, can you believe it? And I was doing so well before!

Well, glad you got out of it. Lets hope you can stay out of it! Any ideas why you got stuck in a slump in the first place?

There is just so much happening in my life this year, it’s hard to just sit down & enjoy a good book.
I hope I can do it for the last month this year though and hope for no more surprises🙈✌🏻

I’m with you for no surprises. I’m not a fan of surprises, even good ones…

Does the first picture mean this book might bite you when you’re not paying attention? 😀 😀

I do hope it lives up to your expectations and that the finale will have you in tears. Or something that’ll not make you question your masculinity. 😛

As long as I enjoy the read, I’ll be happy. But if I get bored then I’ll be very unhappy…

Glad you liked this one, I might have to give it a try. I haven’t read any Weeks since the Night Angel trilogy, which I forget about since I borrowed them. I also get him confused with Peter V Brett, for some reason. Brett, Brent? No excuse.

Well, back when they were both starting out, Night Angel and the Warded Man series both had the same dark’ish vibe. Of course, Brett seems to have disappeared after his series finished up, or maybe he’s just holed up writing more. Either way, I’m definitely on Team Weeks 😀
No matter how ridiculous that sounds, hahahhaaa.

I only read book one 9 years later than you started… Halfway through book two now. I believe I will be completing the series some time next year.

Let me tell you, waiting all these years has been a killer! I’m definitely doing the “wait until a series is finished before I start it” for any future series by Brent Weeks 🙂
