Quote from “Very Good, Jeeves”

“There is no time, sir, at which ties do not matter.”

~Jeeves to Bertie Wooster

Jeeves, that Sartorial Master, that Captain of Clothes,  that Guardian of the Avante Guarde, that Professional Appareller, that Vizier of Vestments and that King of Accoutrement, is never wrong.

This book is going along swimmingly!

    Love the cover and quote!

  2. “There are times, Jeeves, at which one asks oneself if trousers really matter.”

    “The mood will pass, Sir.”

  3. Ah, I have some Jeeves high up on my TBR but I never seem to get to them. I do own the TV series though and love it! Thanks for the quote!

I love Wodehouse and normally would never question the wisdom of Jeeves, but I’m reminded of Linda Ellerbee who said, “How intelligent is it to start the day by tying a little noose around your neck?”
Then again Jeeves might have been thinking of Samuel Johnson’s statement ““Depend upon it, sir, when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully.”

  6. Haahha this reminds me of my boss at work who can’t wrap his head around the fact that I don’t wear a tie yet button up all the way. 😛

I have to admit, I’ve never understood that myself. The button all the way up, I mean. Probably doesn’t help that I pretty much only wear button up shirts to church once a week 😀

      • Hahahaah I find it funny that people are completely caught off guard by it. I just do it because sometimes when the collars are ironed, they expand unnaturally and don’t want to look normal while I leave the top buttons unbuttoned. And I then found out that it’s a modern style for some, so I didn’t think twice about how “weird” it might be for some folks. 😛
