Monster Hunter Memoirs: Grunge: I’ve read 4%.

“My mother is a *&^%$ hippy bitch. And I am sick and tired of this *&^%$ hippy hair. Would you please cut it all off? I promise not to tell”

~Oliver Gardenier to a WWII veteran barber

Excepting the profanities, this is going to be most excellent.

  1. Larry Correia can be a bit much sometimes, but he’s always hilarious. I love his Grimnoir Chronicles, but unfortunately I am not caught up with his MHI books.

This is a collaboration between him and John Ringo and from what I’ve read of Ringo, most of the profanity will be from him. As is much of the philosophy touted by the main character…

  2. It looks as if we’ll need a good supply of brain bleach to read this one… 😀 😀

Wow, sounds heavy on the swearing. Is this based on the famous Monster Hunter video games? Or… just has nothing to do with those.

John Ringo is a big Military SF guy and so he uses the language of soldiers. The more I’m reading this book, the more I’m remembering why I don’t read Ringo. Correia I eat up with a spoon though.

I don’t think this has anything to do with the game. It was an original concept by Correia with his initial book, Monster Hunters International, or MHI. Just about the only urban fantasy I like…

I had trouble getting into Monster Hunter. Read MH:I and it was decent, but super wonky. I mean I like guns, but I didn’t need a description of every firearm used by every character.

I’ve been recommended Son of the Black Sword, though. I’ll probably check that out sometime.
